Mercedes F1 team to be kicked out of 2013 championship?

Rumours are spreading fast that the Mercedes Petronas team could be kicked out of the 2013 Formula One world championship.

Hours after teammate Nico Rosberg stormed to the biggest win in their history yet, the car giant was branded “underhanded” by Red Bull boss Christian Horner.

Mercedes had to deny claims their Monaco result was built on a secret three-day Pirelli tire test ahead of the Monte Carlo Grand Prix.

A protest from Scuderia Ferrari and Red Bull Racing regarding the controversial Mercedes Pirelli test was heard by the FIA stewards after the Monaco GP, but as expected, no immediate action has resulted, and instead a report will now be considered by the FIA.

In a note issued to the media Sunday night the FIA has in effect hinted that Mercedes could face serious sanctions (including being kicked out of this year's world championship) as a result of the controversial secret Pirelli test.

Kobayashi Gets Ferrari Drive

Maranello, 27 May – The Fiorano track was the scene of Kamui Kobayashi’s first drive at the wheel of a Ferrari Formula 1 car, the F10 with which the Maranello team competed in the World Championship three years ago. Kobayashi has been part of the Ferrari family since March, flying the Prancing Horse flag in GT races. Kobayashi didn’t take long to get to grips with the car in what was a preparatory test for when he will drive it in the Moscow City Racing event, which will see the F1 car shoot through the streets of the Russian capital over the weekend of 21 July.

“The first feeling was one of great happiness,” commented the Japanese driver after the short test. “I raced against this car and I knew how quick it was, so it was very important to get some experience of it. Last year’s race in Brazil was the last time I drove a Formula 1 car and now I am racing in WEC (World Endurance Championship) in a 458 GT and the impressions are completely different. But it wasn’t hard to readapt, because in the past, I’ve driven all sorts of cars and I’m used to change. It will be very nice to drive an F1 car again at this event in Moscow and for me it will be a double debut: the first time at the wheel of a Ferrari F1 car in an event and my first visit to the city.”

Android users will get latest FlickR app

Yahoo! is doing more than buying blog platforms today, and during an event in New York they have announced a complete revamp of Flickr. The interface of the website has changed, and now features content blocks and full bleed images instead of the thumbnail or list view of the past. In addition, registered users now have 1TB (as in a terabyte) of free storage space to keep their photos, more than any other online service. That's all well and good, but we're mostly concerned with the update to the Android app.

Last December, the Flickr app for iOS received a nice update, and today Yahoo! says the Android app will be updated to the same version. That includes a UI change away from the grid we have now to a more content-focused layout resembling the website, as well as better social sharing through Facebook and Tumblr, photo editing and filters via Aviary, and photo-viewing enhancements like zooming and photo details. The update is expected to go live at any time, so if you're a user be sure to check Google Play for the notification, or try the link above.

Facebook HOME for Android

A very good video showing the functions and how to install a facebook HOME app in an android device (supported device). Its kinda cool in a way but think its taking away the function of a smartphone to being a social device. Well that's just me. Feel free to give it a try.

Pedrosa wins Le Mans MotoGP 2013

Dani Pedrosa took charge from the get go and dominated an eventful French Grand Prix to place himself on the top spot in the MotoGP championship points standings.

Pedrosa was well clear of Cal Crutchlow, second aboard the Tech 3 Yamaha despite riding with a shin fracture from his practice crash.
The win allowed Pedrosa to open a six points gap over Repsol Honda team-mate Marc Marquez, who recovered to third on the second Honda after a poor start, and 17 ahead of Jorge Lorenzo, whose Yamaha was only seventh.

Andrea Dovizioso's Ducati seized the early initiative on a tentative first lap during which Marquez dropped to the rear of the top 10.

Lorenzo and Pedrosa filtered into second and third while Valentino Rossi moved into fourth on the second lap and on the following tour Pedrosa moved into second, passing Lorenzo and quickly reeling in the Ducati out front.

It was reported that a Proton Satria driver lost control of his car coming down from the Bukit Antarabangsa road and collided with the poor souls that was in the Perodua Viva on the main stretch. There was also a motorcyclist and another Suzuki Swift that was involved in this accident. This cause a massive traffic jam on the MRR2 yesterday.

Rafa Benitez did not join Chelsea's lap of honour

Rafa Benitez chose not to participate in Chelsea's end-of-season lap of honour despite their 2-1 Premier League victory over Everton ensuring his final competitive match at the club ended on a high.

Multiple banners honouring Benitez for leading Chelsea to third place in the Premier League and the Europa League title replaced the routine booing and 'Rafa out' displays that had marked the majority of his time in charge and which ended, domestically at least, with goals from compatriots Juan Mata and Fernando Torres giving Chelsea their latest victory.

'It's for the families and the players,' said Benitez, who will overlook two end-of-season friendlies against Manchester City in America before finally departing.
'I received hundreds of messages, more than 200 messages on the website, from Chelsea fans saying 'thank you very much'.

'For me that is enough, and also the players telling me things privately.
'The majority of [the supporters] were very positive in the end. That is good.
'We couldn't change the opinion of some of them. We tried to do our best until the end.'
It was a very contrasting scene when he first took charge after being appointed the interim manager to replace last season's UEFA Champions League winning coach, Roberto De Matteo. But now it seems the Chelsea fans is a bit more appreciative.

Ryan Giggs is the only Class of 92 survivor

Paul Scholes led the tributes to David Beckham last night after his former Manchester United and England team-mate announced that he is calling time on a glittering 20-year playing career. Beckham,Giggs, Scholes, Nicky Butt and the Neville brothers were members of the Class of '92 who helped Sir Alex Ferguson deliver unprecedented success to United.

Scholes, who has also retired for the 2nd time, said: 'It's a sad day but hopefully David is happy with what he's done. 'That's all our year finished now. I think there's only Ryan Giggs, who was a year older than us, left still going as strong as ever.'

Ryan Giggs is the only member from the famous class of 92 to kept on going and he is going strong. Ryan Giggs is to be offered a coaching role at Manchester United next season but it is very doubtful that he will hang up his boots before the end of next season.

Ryan Giggs, who turns 40 in November, has signed a one-year extension to his contract but is likely to play less and less in what is almost certain to be his final season. He has already completed his coaching badges.

Significantly, when Moyes met Ferguson for talks on Monday, Giggs – United’s longest-serving player – was invited along.

Macini set to be sacked by Manchester City

Reports are coming from the UK that the City hierarchy have decided Mancini's time at the club is over.

Reports on Friday suggested that City had already agreed a deal with Malaga boss Manuel Pellegrini to succeed Mancini.

If those reports are true, the decision to dismiss Mancini had been taken even before City's humiliation in the FA Cup final, which they lost 1-0 to Wigan.

After the game, Mancini expressed his annoyance with City, who neither confirmed nor denied the rumours.
He said: "I don't know why the club didn't stop this.
"If it's true we will see in the next two weeks. If it's not true, you wrote a lot of stupid things for six months. If it's true, I'm stupid because I didn't understand anything about this.

"But I am sure I work with serious people and I'm sure I did a good job, even if we lost this final. Two weeks, maybe one week. Next Sunday. The season will finish. I will know if it's true or not." He added: "I have a four-year contract, not one. There is no reason for me to ask. Do you think the chairman told me not to worry before the game?

"How many teams did better than us this year? Manchester United. Swansea, I don't think anyone else. "Our target at the start of the season was to try and win the Premier League. But our mistake started in the last market. We didn't do enough to improve our team. After winning the Premier League, the second year is more difficult.

"Then maybe you don't get the Champions League. You can have a bad season. We had problems because we lost some players. We lost Yaya (Toure) for a month. We had a lot of problems this season.

"Every manager takes the responsibility. That is normal. But I don't think last year, when Manchester United lost the Premier League and didn't play in the FA Cup final they had all the discussion we did."

Although Pellegrini did not confirm or deny the story ahead of his team's Primera Division match against Sevilla on Sunday, he declared he and several players would not be staying at Malaga, due to the club's ailing financial situation.

Ronaldo in hot water with Mourinho

Jose Mourinho’s relationship with his superstar,Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to be at breaking point as the Real Madrid coach prepares to take charge of his last four games at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Ronaldo has been captured by Spanish television appearing to direct an insult in Portuguese towards Mourinho in the club’s midweek win over Malaga with one channel, Cuatro, claiming the former Manchester United forward had shouted Foda-se! (f**k you!) at the home bench after scoring his 200th goal for the club.
The apparent insult came immediately after Ronaldo had thumped the club badge on his shirt and pointed to the pitch beneath him shouting: ‘I’m here, I’m here’ – a gesture understood as an 'I do my talking on the pitch’ response to criticism from Mourinho before the game.

David Moyes could be Red Devils new Manager

Everton manager David Moyes is said set to be appointed as the new Manchester United manager, following Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement. David Moyes did not sign the contract offered by Everton and that could be the sign of him switching from blue to red.

An announcement could be made on Thursday. Ferguson, 71, revealed his decision to step down from the helm after  27 years of glory at Old Trafford on Wednesday. Fellow Scot Moyes, 50, who has been in charge at Goodison Park since 2002, held talks with Toffees chairman Bill Kenwright on Wednesday evening.

The former Preston boss was installed as bookmakers' favourite to become the next United boss following a rush of bets over the weekend, even before speculation mounted about Ferguson's retirement.

"He's cut from the same cloth," said former United captain Steve Bruce.

"It wouldn't surprise me if he got the job and I'm sure he would be very successful.

"He's not had huge finances but he has still managed to put an Everton team together that comfortably finishes in the top 10."
Former United assistant manager Steve McClaren also believes Moyes is the right man for the job.

"He's a winner and has a work ethic similar to Sir Alex," the ex-England manager told BBC Radio 5 live. "He's also built a dynasty and legacy at Everton.
"He's waited many years for this opportunity and I hope he gets it."

Breaking News: Sir Alex Ferguson will retire as Man. United manager

Wednesday morning stated: "Sir Alex Ferguson will retire at the end of the season, Manchester United announced today. The most successful manager in English football history will bow out after the West Bromwich Albion game on 19 May and join the football club board."

Announcing his decision to retire, Ferguson spoke of his pride at his achievements at United and also thanked the club for allowing him to rebuild it from top to bottom.

"The decision to retire is one that I have thought a great deal about and one that I have not taken lightly," he said. "It is the right time. It was important to me to leave an organisation in the strongest possible shape and I believe I have done so.

"The quality of this league winning squad, and the balance of ages within it, bodes well for continued success at the highest level whilst the structure of the youth set-up will ensure that the long-term future of the club remains a bright one.

"Our training facilities are amongst the finest in global sport and our home Old Trafford is rightfully regarded as one of the leading venues in the world.

"Going forward, I am delighted to take on the roles of both director and ambassador for the club. With these activities, along with my many other interests, I am looking forward to the future, providing a bedrock of both stability and encouragement. Words are not enough to express what this has meant to me.

"As for my players and staff, past and present, I would like to thank them all for a staggering level of professional conduct and dedication that has helped to deliver so many memorable triumphs. Without their contribution the history of this great club would not be as rich.

"In my early years, the backing of the board, and Sir Bobby Charlton in particular, gave me the confidence and time to build a football club, rather than just a football team.

"Over the past decade, the Glazer family have provided me with the platform to manage Manchester United to the best of my ability and I have been extremely fortunate to have worked with a talented and trustworthy chief executive in David Gill. I am truly grateful to all of them.

"To the fans, thank you. The support you have provided over the years has been truly humbling. It has been an honour and an enormous privilege to have had the opportunity to lead your club and I have treasured my time as manager of Manchester United."

United chief executive David Gill, who will himself leave the club this summer, said: "I've had the tremendous pleasure of working very closely with Alex for 16 unforgettable years - through the Treble, the double, countless trophy wins and numerous signings. We knew that his retirement would come one day and we both have been planning for it by ensuring the quality of the squad and club structures are in first class condition.

"Alex's vision, energy and ability have built teams - both on and off the pitch - that his successor can count on as among the best and most loyal in world sport.

"The way he cares for this club, his staff and for the football family in general is something that I admire. It is a side to him that is often hidden from public view but it is something that I have been privileged to witness in the last 16 years.

"What he has done for this club and for the game in general will never be forgotten. It has been the greatest experience of my working life being alongside Alex and a great honour to be able to call him a friend."

Joel Glazer, joint chairman of United along with his brother Avie, said: "Alex has proven time and time again what a fantastic manager he is but he's also a wonderful person. His determination to succeed and dedication to the club have been truly remarkable. I will always cherish the wonderful memories he has given us, like that magical night in Moscow."

Avie Glazer added: "I am delighted to announce that Alex has agreed to stay with the club as a director. His contributions to Manchester United over the last 26 years have been extraordinary and, like all United fans, I want him to be a part of its future."

BMW re-calls some 42,000 3 series

BMW said it was regarding the same airbags issue that has affected other automakers. The massive recall that encompassed more than 3.4 million vehicles in April due to faulty airbag components grew a little larger as BMW AG said it’s recalling 42,000 3-Series cars built in 2002 and 2003. BMW spokesman Dave Buchko said the automaker knew of no improper “deployments or injuries related to this issue in any BMW.”

Toyota Motor Corp., Honda Motor Co., Nissan Motor Co, Mazda Motor Co. and General Motors Co., recalled 3.4 million vehicles due to issue related to the airbag inflator produced by Takata Corp. More than 1 million of those vehicles were in the U.S.
The recall highlights the major downside of multiple manufacturers using common parts from a single source. Toyota was hit the hardest as it recalled 1.7 million vehicles around the world, including 510,000 in the U.S. The vehicles include models from 2001-2003, including the Toyota Corolla, Corolla Matrix, Sequoia, Tundra, Lexus SC 430.
GM plans to recall 48,000 2003 Pontiac Vibe cars in the United States – a model assembled at a joint GM-Toyota facility – and up to 7,000 in Canada.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the government agency that oversees recalls, noted it’s working on the issue.

“The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been in communication with Takata and the affected automakers regarding the recalls. The agency will continue to monitor the situation closely and will take appropriate action as warranted,” the agency said.

Juventus secured 2nd consecutive Scudetto

Juve needed a draw to be crown the champions of Italy in claiming their second straight Scudetto, and their 29th in total, but they did better by winning their game thanks to Arturo Vidal's 59th-minute penalty.

The victory takes Juve 11 points clear of nearest challengers Napoli, who can no longer catch the pacesetters with only three rounds of matches left after this weekend.

Antonio Conte's men had to play out the final seven minutes with a man less following the dismissal of midfielder Paul Pogba for spitting at Palermo defender Salvatore Aronica, but it made no difference as Juve claimed their eighth successive league victory and with it the title.

While Juve were left to celebrate the championship though, Palermo's problems at the other end of the table increased with Sunday's results.
They had picked up 11 points from their previous five matches heading to Juventus Stadium but their defeat, combined with Genoa's win, saw them fall three points adrift of safety.

Chelsea Boss Applauds win over Champions

Rafael Benitez hailed Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over the English Champions at Old Trafford "massive" confirming that it has returned his side to third place in Barclays Premier League.
Juan Mata's speculative shot was deflected in by United defender Phil Jones three minutes from time for the only goal of the match to give Chelsea an advantage over Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in the race for the qualifying places for the UEFA Champions League.
"It is massive for us,” Benitez said of the win. “We knew that we have to get six or seven points to guarantee the top four and we have got three points here. Now we play against Tottenham and we are in the driving seat."
Eden Hazard missed the match with a calf injury and Benitez confirmed the player will be assessed for the Spurs match.
For United things became worse in the final minute when Rafael Da Silva as sent off for retaliating against David Luiz. It was United’s first red card of the season.

PFA Footballer Of The Year awarded to...

Gareth Bale's consistently mesmerising form for Spurs this season made him crowned as both the PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year on Sunday, a feat which saw him emulate the achievements of Cristiano Ronaldo, currently regarded as one of the best players in the world, in 2007.

Several European Giants including the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are all reportedly keen to bring the Welsh winger over during the summer; with Spurs failing to consistently challenge for top honours, Bale, who previously expressed his desire to play abroad, could be tempted to change clubs for next season.

And Zidane, who presently works as Real's sporting director, believes teams would be willing to pay a mammoth transfer fee to add the 23-year-old to their ranks.
"After the season he has just had - and still being so young of course Gareth Bale is going to be one of the most expensive players in the world if he decides to move," Zidane was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

Goalkeeper found dead while asleep..RIP

Players and officials at Swedish soccer club AIK were in shock following the sudden death of goalkeeper Ivan Turina on Thursday at the age of 32.
"It is with great sorrow and shock that we can confirm that goalkeeper Ivan Turina passed away on the night between Wednesday and Thursday," the club said in a statement.
"Ivan died suddenly in his sleep and at the moment no crime is suspected."
Croatian Turina, the father of one-year-old twins, was known to have a congenital heart problem which he told the club about when he signed for them in 2010.
"We knew that he had a congenital heart problem but he was completely healthy," AIK chairman Johan Segui told newspaper Expressen.
Striker Henok Goitom, who lived next door to Turina, said he had been summoned by the family. "His wife's mother rang hysterically on my doorbell," he told reporters at the team's Karlberg training ground.

"Yesterday was an ordinary day. Today, Ivan is dead," he said. "It's a shock. The AIK supporters loved him. It's a slap in the face for everyone but we are united as a group and we're trying to help everyone in AIK and his family."

Former Chelsea and Barcelona star fails doping test...

The 35-year-old player who is currently playing for Fluminense was tested after the club's match with Boavista last month and his test sample was found to contain traces of furosemide, a diuretic which is banned as it can be used to mask other substances.

The Club issued a short statement on their website to acknowledge the results, but offering no comment until the players 'B' sample is revealed on Friday.
According to reports in Brazil, Deco plans to fight any suspension, claiming the result is most likely a result of contamination to a vitamin supplement he has used for several years.

Chelsea into UEFA Cup Final

Chelsea is set to play in the Final of the UEFA Cup after they beat FC Basel 3-1. This will be their consecutive Final appearances in europe major club competition after last year's UEFA Champions League Final.
Last season's Champions League winners fell behind to Mohamed Salah's fine 45th-minute goal for the Swiss champions, but Fernando Torres and Victor Moses maintained their impressive individual records in the competition by scoring within three second-half minutes.
David Luiz's stunning curled goal ended the tie as a contest and ensured Chelsea's passage to the May 15 final in Amsterdam against his former club Benfica - but there was no record-equalling goal for Frank Lampard on a memorable night in west London.

Chelsea are now well-placed to secure both their targets in the final weeks of Rafael Benitez's reign, with the Europa League their eighth and final chance of silverware at the end of another turbulent season.
The Blues will hope to secure their return to the Champions League before the final and next face crucial Barclays Premier League fixtures with Manchester United and Tottenham.

A Boeing B747 Crashes Near Bagram Airfield (Raw Footage)

A civillian aircraft a Boeing 747 was captured to have stalled and then crashed near Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan. This video was caught using a dash camera by a witness at the scene.
