Mazda recalls their New Mazda 6

It's on sale for only a couple of months but Mazda's flagshp car, the new 6 could catch fire.

The Japanese auto maker has decided to recall 15,000 of Mazda 6s worldwide for what is said to be due to a faulty DC/DC convertor component which could lead to it getting overheating, or worse, catching fire.

The auto maker is recalling the car due to an 'incident' occurring in Australia, and the recall affects all diesel-powered Mazda 6s and 165ps Sport petrol models.

A release from Mazda added: "For all customers who are awaiting delivery of their new Mazda6 these cars will have the modification made before delivery which, in the short term, may result in a slight delay. All customers will be contacted by their dealer to update on the expected delivery date."

Mazda says the fault is "very small" and the recall is "a precautionary measure".

It's unfortunate for the Japanese firm. The car, which has only been on sale in the UK for a matter of months, has received universal praise for its style, strong driving abilities and its improvement in build quality.

Mark Webber giver Seb Vettel the middle finger

The controversy surrounding the two Red Bull Racing drivers is obvious. When the team instructed  both drivers two maintain position and tune down the engine to get both car safely home, only one driver adhered and that was Mark Webber. He was shocked by Vettel's moves on him as it was clearly stated in the communication that both was instructed to hold position. This was his reaction to Vettel's moves that could have possibly taken out the both of them from the Grand Prix.

FOR SALE : The Nurburgring!

When the operators of Germany’s famous track Nürburgring filed for bankruptcy last July, no one knew what the future held in store for the track.

Not only is the Nürburgring Nordschleife one of the most famous racing circuits in the world (and a mecca for driving enthusiasts), the track is beloved by automakers for sports car development and testing. Simply put, no other track in the world could generate that much data per lap.

While a sale of the facility seemed inevitable, most fans tried to block a future without club races and “tourist drives” from their minds. Now comes word from Autoweekthat the track is indeed for sale, in the hands of a state-appointed liquidator.

If that’s the bad news, here’s the good news: as Autocar reports, there are requirements behind the sale. First and foremost, the buyer must agree to maintain access to the general public, though it doesn’t necessarily mandate tourist drives. It’s possible, if not entirely likely, that access could be restricted to spectators.

The intent of the requirements is to prohibit potential (wealthy) buyers from turning the ‘Ring into their own private playground or high-dollar motorsport country club. While club sport events reportedly don’t generate much income, tourist drives do, so any potential owner would be foolish to end this tradition.

We’d expect automakers to have a say in the matter as well, since virtually all major brands do a serious amount of development work at the Nürburgring. Losing access to the track would present a significant obstacle to future sports car development and testing.

The track’s asking price (not including hotels or amusement park) is said to be in the neighborhood of $152 million, meaning that any potential buyer will soon seek ways to maximize their return on investment. Even in a best-case scenario, where the track remains as unrestricted as it is today, expect to see prices for all events go up.

Man Left Crasehd Lamborghini

While modern day supercars are magnitudes easier to drive compared to just a few decades ago, the finesse and skill needed to handle a 500+hp car has not changed.
A fact this newly minted Lamborghini owner found out mere hours after he finished signing the paperwork on his brand new Murcielago. According to 10News in La Jolla, California, a man and a woman were seen fleeing the scene after the accident. The accident, which occured at 11:45 pm, was caused by the driver losing control after exiting the freeway at a high rate of speed. Witnesses heard the couple frantically say “Let’s get out of here.” moments before leaving the scene.
Paperwork recovered from inside the Lamborghini indicated the car had been purchased from Lamborghini Newport Beach just hours prior. Law enforcement is staking out the address listed on the purchase documents in order to arrest the driver. 10News and local law enforcement have no reason to suspect the car was stolen.

VW Recalling 384,000 Cars in China for Faulty DSG

Volkswagen will be recalling some 384,181 of its vehicles that was sold in China to fix a major gearbox problem about which the automaker has taken some heat within the last 12 months. The recall was announced by China’s quality watchdog, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, with VW confirming it in an email statement.

The recall action will begin on April 2 and will cover almost 21 models including Passat, Sagitar, Golf, Touran and other models made by VW’s Chinese ventures, as well as imported models like the Audi A3 built between February 2010 and June 2011.

Volkswagen’s decision to recall the cars was made after an annual investigative special on corporate malpractice broadcast last week by China Central Television (CCTV), in which VW’s DSG transmissions were blamed for causing cars to speed up or slow down during driving.

In the statement, Volkswagen admitted that "in isolated cases, an electronic malfunction in the control unit or a lack of oil pressure inside the gearbox mechatronics may result in a power interruption," stressing that steering and braking are not affected. The recall includes vehicles equipped with seven-speed direct-shift gearboxes.

The recall may prove to be a really expensive one for the German automaker, with LMC Automotive estimating replacements to cost between 3,000 yuan ($483) to 10,000 yuan ($1,610) per vehicle. That would bring the total cost of the recall to $618 million in the.

Subaru's Radical Design to be implemented

Subaru will soon be adopting the angular face design of the Viziv concept crossover shown at the Geneva auto show across its entire lineup, Subaru's global design chief says.

Subaru's current lineup front end is dominated by a hexagonal grille and wraparound headlights. "It is currently too tame", says the global design chief Osamu Namba. Going forward, models will take their styling cues from the Viziv.

The concept's front has aggressively incised bracket-shaped headlights that fuse with the lower fog lights to cut an angular jaw shape. Elements of the look are likely to appear on a new performance concept car that will debut at next week's New York auto show. The look is unmistakable and people will know it is Subaru, and that's what we wants.

"Up until now, it wasn't enough," Namba says of Subaru's traditionally staid front impression. "From here out, we want people to look at the headlamps and think 'Ah, Subaru.'"

The new styling points have crept into the redesigned Forester crossover, which debuted in November. But Namba says they will gradually work their way across Subaru's lineup.

"We've just started the change," Namba says.

Acura TSX model ReCalled in Canada

A flaw with Acura’sTSX ranging from model years 2004 to 2008 is causing a recallin Canada and could reach the U.S.
Almost 17,000 of the sedans are being recalled in areas where de-icing chemicals and salt are used because the mixture could cause damage to the base of the car’s engine control unit according to Transport Canada.
That corrosion damage could cause the engine to stall. Acura dealers will install a waterproof cover over the ECU and any damaged units will be replaced.
There isn’t currently a defect investigation open with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, but given the general nature of the problem it would make sense if it were announced for parts of the U.S. too.

Hyundai recalls 2012 Veloster model

Hyundai has issued two separate recalls for the 2012 Veloster today, one for the sunroofs which have been shattering, and one for a faulty parking brake which can bind.

The sunroof recall affects 13,500 Velosters, and is the result of being weakened at the factory during installation. If the sunroof shatters while driving, it can cause injury to the driver, and a major distraction. Hyundai will inspect the recalled Velosters sunroofs, and replace them free of charge if they are damaged.

The seconds recall affects 4,490 model year 2012 Velosters equipped with manual transmissions. The issue is that moisture and road grime may cause the parking brake to bind, and not work properly. If this happens, the parking brake can drag while driving, or it may not engage fully when the vehicle is parked. This could lead to the vehicles rolling away after being parked.

Porsche 911 Carrera 2013 cracked exhaust pipe recalled

Porsche is said to be recalling  its 911 Carrera 2013 model sports car because of the vulnerability of its exhaust tailpipe that can fracture and fall entirely off the muffler.

Although the issue doesn’t pose any risk to the driver apart from a possible change in the exhaust note becoming very rough, the debris is said could cause property damage and to some extent injuring a bystander. Because of that, the maker is issuing a recall, although the campaign is only currently taking place in Canada.

Porsche will fix the issue at no charge to owners through its dealer network in Canada, although it’s likely the same issue will crop up in the U.S.

Ferrari ENZO successor to be unveiled in Geneva

Ferrari has released their new teaser images of its upcoming successor for the Enzo model on the company's official Facebook page.  The Italian automaker says it will release a series of images of its upcoming flagship, which untill now is still unnamed, right up until its worldwide debut next week at the Geneva Motor Show.

Like previous images, the latest teaser doesn't give away too much.  Judging from previous images, the Ferrari logo depicted here resides on the car's rear end.

Reports suggest the Enzo successor will be powered by a hybrid drivetrain that will consist of an evolution of the 6.3-liter V12 engine found in the f12berlinetta and a Formula 1-derived Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS).  Together, the two will send 950 horsepower to the rear set of wheels, enabling the super car to sprint from zero to 62 mph in just three seconds and reach a top speed of 229 mph.

The KERS system will add around 330 pounds to the car, bumping the total weight up to roughly 2,820 pounds.

Called F150 internally, the car will be built around a carbon-fiber monocoque crafted by Ferrari's Formula 1 division.  Its body will be made out of four different types of carbon fibers, resulting in a 27 percent increase in torsional rigidity over the Enzo.

Ferrari has confirmed that the cockpit will feature a fixed driver's seat that will be tailor-made for each buyer.  The pedal box and the steering wheel will both be adjustable.
